As of today, you can unlock and program Bosch MDG1 control units directly in your workshop, without the RFT service.

The new Boot solution for Flex supports Bosch MDG1 ECUs equipped with Aurix TC2xx microprocessor installed on VAG, BMW, Stellantis (FCA/PSA), Kia/Hyundai, and JLR vehicles, allowing you to work freely on your own, with the fastest intervention time and full operation control.

The procedure consists in unlocking in Boot mode. Once the unlock is complete, you can proceed with read and write operations in Bench, working in total autonomy, with the fastest intervention times and without the need to open the unit at every operation.

This solution is already available for the majority of Bosch MDG1 units equipped with Aurix TC2xx microprocessor.

As for models that are not supported yet, compatibility will be progressively expanded with the next updates and new accessories.

This new support is reserved to customers with Full FLS0.5M and FLS0.5S licenses.

Please note: The connection procedure to the ECU might take some minutes. The connection is established through the port E, using the FLX4.1 adapter included in the Flex kit.

What’s the benefits of the boot unlocking instead of mail-in unlocking?

Even a Boot unlock solution would be perfect for us.
Our main issue is not Boot mode. The real problem is shipping ECUs abroad, dealing with customs clearance, and making customers wait about a week for the ECU to be sent and returned. During that time, we risk losing our customers.
Today, Magic Motorsport made a big step forward by releasing a free Boot unlock solution for several new protected Bosch MD1 ECUs, such as the MD1CS003, MD1CS004, and other protected MD1 variants that previously required a paid unlock service.
I hope Autotuner will follow the same direction by introducing a Boot unlock solution for these ECUs, and later for the MD1CS104, MD1CS001, MD1cp001 and the other ECUs that are still locked.
This would make a huge difference for workshops like ours, allowing us to work faster, avoid shipping delays, and keep our customers.
