2021–2023 Ford Transit key programming traditionally requires Ford’s FDRS software and a token-based interface. Will OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3 program key for these models?
2022 and 2023 Transits generally require FDRS from Ford — a token interface that allows the use of aftermarket OEM key fobs and even universal keys, but which is needed to get past the vehicle’s security.
Xhorse went up to 2019. Autel and OBDSTAR failed to program all keys lost by OBD.
OBDSTAR released equivalent updates.
Walking through the menu — IMMO → Ford → manual → Ford Europe → Transit → bladed — OBDSTAR shows a menu option covering 2021 to 2023. We note the 2020–2021 option was always there, and believes it previously had a “+” sign next to it before this update.
Entering the 2021–2023 menu presents two choices:
With PIN — described as the standardized key-count procedure done through OBD, covering add keys, all keys lost, and active alarm or not.
Without PIN code — this option immediately shows read D-flash, which, as we note, cannot be done through OBD alone. It also covers add keys and all keys lost, with active or inactive alarm.
What the “Without PIN” Path Requires
Following the tool’s guide, this procedure requires removing the BCM. The guide also states that an OBD pull can be used to do a number of keys. G3 displays the BCM, the MP001 — along with a PCB harness, which he identifies as the RH850.
Read BCM flash using C4-06 adapter, load flash to retrieve pin code, then program key.
