FAQs: How to use CarProg with EDC16 VAG

Q: Does CARPROG need external power supply ??
A: Carprog does not need external power supply for that eeprom.

Q: Can I read the memory in circuit or have to desolder ??
To read eeprom, always better to desolder.

Q: Does ECU need 12v??
A: No need 12v on ecu.

Q: Should I have a clip for 8 pin eeprom?

A: Yes i have a clip

Q: Did I locate pin1 correctly?

A: Yes. Pin1 is correct. Try with the eeprom clip. The red wire of the flat cable should be on the pin 1. And desolder.

Q: I use Carprog 8.21 with A4 Adapter.

edc15 24c02 No problem, but with 95320 edc16 no success

A: For EDC16 and VAG ECU software you must update A1+:

download update file:

Unzip file to your computer, connect CarProg programmer with A1+ adapter to OBDII connector and make A1+ update.

Note: Carprog A1 vs A1+ adapter

A1+ (A1 PLUS) – new generation ODB2 adapter CarProg use for Volvo dashboard programming and VAG ECU programming.
A1 is not the same adapter like A1+. And A1+ not replace old A1. These are 2 different adapters.

A1+ (A1 PLUS) is a new OBDII adapter with high speed CAN.
