Autel “Topology Data Unavailable” Error Solution

If your Autel Ultra/MS909 or other MaxiSys diagnostic scanner displays a “Topology Data Unavailable” error, it usually means the device cannot access the latest vehicle network mapping data. This issue occurs due to expired subscriptions, slow internet, or issue on server side. Below are the common causes and solutions.

Autel Topology Data Unavailable

Why Does This Error Happen?

  1. Expired Subscription
    • Autel requires an active update subscription to download topology data.
    • If your subscription has expired, you’ll need to renew it.
  2. Weak or Unstable Internet Connection
    • The scanner needs a stable, high-speed connection (at least 50 Mbps download speed) to fetch topology data.
    • If your Wi-Fi is slow or keeps disconnecting, the download may fail.
  3. Software Issues
    • Corrupted software or outdated firmware can prevent proper data retrieval.
    • A factory reset may help if other fixes don’t work. (
      • Back up your files first (use an SD card to save diagnostic reports, logs, and settings).
      • Go to Settings > System > Reset Options > Factory Reset.

  4. Old Vehicle Models
    • Some older cars may not have updated topology data available.
