Newly arrival Xhorse VVDI-PROG programmer is able to read& write EEPROM, MCU and ECU for multi brand car models. Here is the instruction on reading BMW 5 series N20 ECU using VVDI Prog.
Open VVDI Pro software
Select type: 3-ECU
Select Brand: BMW E chassis
Select ECU type: MEVD1724 (N20)
Select “Connection Diagram” button
The VVDI prog will prompt which adapter is going to use and display the detail ECU connection diagram
Follow the diagram to connect the adapter/cables with ECU
The position 1 cable is difficult to solder, so here use a conductive connection way
Check the diagram carefully and make sure all cables are connect correctly
Then connect VVDI Prog programmer with PC via USB cable
The VVDIPro indicator light flashes indicates that the communication is built
Click “New” tab
Click “Read” to read ECU data
Initializing, wait until it process to 100% (see progress on status bar at the bottom as well)
Read BWM ECU data completed
Save the data
