Autel MaxiSys MS906BT vs MaxiTPMS TS900

What can an Autel MaxiSYS MS906bt do that a MaxiTPMS TS900 can’t? Lost the ms906bt dongle recently. Decide to get a new scanner.

The MaxiTPMS TS900 has significantly better/fresher hardware overall, making it faster and more future-proof. The MS906BT feels dated by 2026 standards.

Diagnostic & Service Capabilities

  • Both support all-systems diagnostics (read/erase codes, live data, freeze frame, etc.) on 1996+ US/Asian/European vehicles, bidirectional controls/active tests, AutoVIN, and 30–40+ service functions (oil reset, EPB, SAS, DPF, BMS, etc.).
  • Pre/Post scans & reports: Both support these (TS900 emphasizes easy sharing/printing).
  • Advanced features: MS906BT offers some ECU coding on supported vehicles. TS900 has strong bi-directional/active tests comparable to higher-end tools.

MS906BT generally has broader/more mature coverage for ECU coding on certain European vehicles (a strength of the MaxiSys line). TS900 is competent but may not match older MaxiSys models in deep coding for some makes.

TPMS Capabilities (Biggest Difference)

  • MS906BT: Basic TPMS support only (e.g., ID relearn, sensor status in some cases). No full sensor programming or advanced activation/relearn like dedicated TPMS tools. It lacks a built-in TPMS antenna/module for comprehensive work.
  • TS900: Full professional TPMS suite (its main strength). Activates/reads/relearns all known TPMS sensors (including Tesla OE and BLE), programs Autel MX-Sensors (Copy by OBD/Activation/Auto Create/Manual, covers ~99% of vehicles), industry-leading OBD relearn coverage, TPMS health reports, etc.
If you do a lot of tire/TPMS work, the TS900 is far superior here.
Other Notes
  • Price Positioning: MS906BT is an older model (often cheaper used/refurbished). TS900 is a current mid-tier tool priced as a strong TPMS + diagnostics hybrid.
  • VCI: Both use wireless VCIs; TS900’s V150 supports newer protocols (CAN FD/DoIP) better out of the box.

Which Should You Choose?

  • Choose MS906BT if: You prioritize deeper ECU coding on European vehicles, already own a dedicated TPMS tool, and can find it at a good price. It’s still capable for general diagnostics but feels outdated.
  • Choose TS900 if: You want a modern, fast tool with excellent full TPMS capabilities + strong all-systems diagnostics and services. It’s the better all-rounder for most shops in 2026, especially tire-related work.
