Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus is about to release a new upgrade that allows modifying the ID of original MQB49 5C and 5D keys. The testing feature is currently available (check test feature 187).

How to modify original MQB49 5C/5D key ID with key tool plus?
Can used keys be reused?
Yes, that was already the case, but now you can change the ID.
It will modify both brand new and used OEM key’s ID.
When writing to original (OEM) key, it will come up just before writing.

Xhorse Multi Prog released new database V94 on March 30th, 2026.
It is able to change original MQB49 5C/5D key ID.
If you have a Key Tool MIDI, VVDI2 or Key Tool Plus, you will be able to modify the original key ID intact for ODIS online.
How to Change MQB49 5C/5D ID with Xhorse Multi Prog?
Select VW- VW 5C or 5D (Changeable ID) option. Click “Only Change ID” function. Enter the modified key ID.
