MINI DSG gearbox reader for VW/Audi is a low-cost device that is designed to read and write latest dual-clutch DSG gearbox data and save dump to bin file for VW/Audi DQ200 and DQ250 system directly via OBD-II socket without removing the ECU.
VW’s DSG “Direct Shift Gearbox” is a 6 speed dual clutch manual-like transmission that automatically shifts. It has internals similar to a manual transmission with a “brain/valve body” called mechatronics which shifts it. Depending on the model, VW/Audi and Borg Warner currently make DSG transmissions.
Obd365 gathered some customer feedbacks and reviews of the MINI DSG reader for VW/Audi DQ200+DQ250. Presents as below:
VW/Audi MINI DSG reader: Good
1). Have coded and tested successfully on DSG 6 speed
2). MINI DSG reader works on DSG 7 CAN only,
3) Test OK on reading DSG 7 VW Golf 2012
4). DQ200 from golf 5 DSG7 takes 25 minutes
5). It works great on some dq250
6). Have tested on dq250 cxx and reading no problem.
7). Audi A3 6 Speed DSG (Temic DQ250) DQ250 via OBD -II
VW/Audi MINI DSG reader: Not OK
1) Does not read Skoda DSG 7 data (Well, Skoda is not included in the vehicle support list)
2) It will not work DSG 7 K-line (no response from controller. Some of the later dsg7 DQ200 boxes are K-Line not CAN. If you connect K-line to pin 11(between 12v and can l) you’ll get an ECU ID but you won’t be able to read or write.)
3) Run “dsgreader.exe” it shows me “license expired” (that’s because you did not activate the software. The MINI DSG Reader software needs activation before using; please send us ID to active. )
NOTE: Some others use new KESS V2 V2.13 firmware V4.036 ECU tuning kit together with MINI DSG reader, and they work perfect.
