Tutorial: How to erase/renew Mercedes Benz transmission gearbox TCU: VGS NAG2, VGS2 NAG2, VGS3 NAG2 using Launch X431 tools. It will erase the transmission data and become inactive.
Requirements
Equipment requirements
Launch X431 IMMO Plus, IMMO Elite, PAD V, PAD VII etc with X-PROG3 programmer
Software requirements
Mercedes V49.60 and above
Operation steps
Take VGS3 NAG2 gearbox as an example.
Enter the software and click “Theft protection”, as shown in Figure 1
Select Export Mode
Network is required to download the wiring diagram. Please make sure that the network is well connected and click “OK”, as shown in Figure 3
Connect X-431 device with X-prog3 follow the connection diagram
Select “Transmission Control Unit (TCU)”
After the module is removed and connected according to the wiring diagram, click “OK”, as shown in Figure 6
Select “Completely erase module”
Network is required to calculate erase password.
Display the original transmission information before erasing, and click “OK” to start erasing, as shown in Figure 9

The TCU erase is successful, and the erased transmission information is displayed. Click “OK” to exit the function.
