How to Repair Tesla 16V Lithium Battery with Xhorse VVDI Prog?

2022 and before Tesla uses lead-acid batteries, 2022-2024 Tesla (Model 3/Model Y) uses 16V lithium batteries. Here is the instruction to repair the Tesla 16V battery if the vehicle battery fails or collides.

 

First of all, test the battery with a multimeter.

Remove the battery from car.

Test the battery, there is 12V voltage but no current.

Remove 4 screws and open battery module.

Unplug this connector

Locate eeprom chip (MM9Z1J638). The chip data is corrupted, remove it and flash data into the chip.

Xhorse VVDI Prog V5.2.4 software adds a Telsa battery(MM9Z1J638) option. We are going to read Pflash and EEPROM data with vvdiprog.

Check wiring diagram in vvdi prog.

Connect vvdi prog with battery module following the wiring diagram.

In vvdiprog software, select 8-Other->Tesla-> Tesla battery (MM9Z1J638)

Read and backup eeprom and FLASH

Write the new data to the battery module.

NOTE:

You cannot install the battery module back to car directly after reflashing the 16V battery. You have to charge battery to 16V to activate it.

Charge the voltage to 16V.

Then test voltage.
