Looking for a diagnostic tool that also offer ECU coding and bidirectional control? Is Topdon ArtiDiag900 BT scanner worth buying?
Here comes the user unbiased review including pros and cons.
“I have been using the TOPDON OBD2 AD900BT diagnostic tool for a few months now, and I am absolutely delighted with its performance and versatility. As the proud owner of an FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) vehicle, I was looking for a diagnostic tool that could not only read the basic trouble codes, but also offer ECU coding and bidirectional control to dive deep into diagnosing my vehicle systems.
First of all, I would like to highlight the ease of use of this device. The 7-inch touchscreen display is bright and easy to read, and the interface is designed to be extremely user-friendly. Even if you have little experience with diagnostic devices, you will quickly find your way around thanks to the intuitive menu navigation. The included instructions are detailed and easy to understand, which makes it even easier to use. Has a neat magnetic port in the backside that the obd reader goes.
The AD900BT is a bidirectional automotive diagnostic tool that boasts full system scanning and wireless functionality. With a Bluetooth signal range of around 30+ feet, I have the flexibility to move around my car while staying connected to the scanner. This proves particularly convenient during diagnostics and troubleshooting processes, offering freedom of movement without compromising on functionality.
The 28+ bidirectional services that this diagnostic tool offers are really impressive. They not only allow you to read trouble codes, but also actively test and control the vehicle systems in real time. This was particularly helpful when I was recently faced with an engine problem. The AD900BT allowed me to pinpoint the fault and test the relevant components to ensure they were working properly. The Topdon Artidag900 BT performs the best during routine services and post maintenance. Dealer tools are not wireless and you have to stay with the tool in the driver seat, using the Topdon Artidiag900lite I can wirelessly monitor the progress of updates, reprograms, and module resets. This adds a new level to multitasking.
Another big plus is the ECU coding feature. This allowed me to make custom adjustments to my vehicle to improve performance and efficiency. This feature is usually only found in expensive workshop equipment, but with the AD900BT I can use it from the comfort of my own home.
I was impressed by the speed and accuracy of the diagnoses. The device reliably reads error codes and provides clear, understandable information about the problems and possible solutions. This not only saved me a lot of time, but also helped to avoid unnecessary visits to the workshop. It’s battery life. There’s no issue as it last a long time.
You can do many manufacture specific functions such as programming keys, tpms monitors and actuate solenoids and other things among those. The only thing it can’t do it is key programs for newer cars requiring encrypted codes from the manufacturer.
Another highlight of this diagnostic device is the fact that it comes with 2 years of free updates. This means that you are always up to date with the latest technology and have access to the latest error codes and features, at no extra cost.
The quality and build of the Topdon AD900BT are excellent. It feels sturdy and durable and has survived a few drops and knocks in my workshop unscathed. The included OBD2 cable is high quality and fits nicely into my vehicle’s OBD2 port. Its feels well made in the hands. And its faster than my old scanner by a fair bit when it comes to boot time and just scrolling threw menus and such as it has a decent processor and ram.
It has updates daily for vehicle programs, and the system remains stable with no change to performance or speed swiping through any of the menus.
It has a web browser so you can use it to search the web for information on what you are working on as well.
It’s a basic diagnostic device. It’s a really well built device. The HDMI out port is a great edition, for hooking up to monitors. Even has hdmi output that topdons premium tablets don’t. I need to connect the tablet to a external TV. The device has a camera and records video. I need to display the video and screen shots on a TV for my customers to see.
It also has a screen capture button hot keyed at the bottom for quick pictures of the screen.
Here are the take on this tool after putting it through its paces:

Cons:

- The camera quality could be better.
- it doesn’t have vehicle history to choose a car already hooked

Its wireless operation, bi-directional control, and in-depth diagnostic capabilities make it a valuable asset for both professional mechanics and car enthusiasts who want to tackle repairs with confidence.
