Here is the user working experience on Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ 2023-2025 smart key programming.
No bypass cable for smartbox.
By obd, no eeprom. You cannot eeprom it.
No Smart box reset.
Credit to Mr. Marji.
Tried it as a Subaru nothing works. Techstream Will not even recognize the vehicle when the ignition is off. The ignition has to be on there is no emergency flashers no opening the door or closing the door will work nothing will work.
The customer provided smart box key and steering lock. Trying to program the existing steering lock module and it keeps failing so we had to install the one that came with a smart box and the key and even then the vehicle still wouldn’t start because you need to program another key and register the steering lock module and register ECU.
You cannot bench it there is no eeprom option anywhere, you cannot bypass it, there is no bypass cable for this Smart box. It’s a Subaru you cannot get tis to communicate unless ignition is on.
If you’ve never done this vehicle now you know.
No one was able to communicate with vehicle because the ignition does not turn on, The only way to turn the ignition on is to purchase Smart box with the key already married to it and the steering lock module
Step 1: replace smart box and steering lock module
Step 2: turn ignition on
Step 3: login with your techstream account
Step 4: Enter your VSP ID and passcode
Step 5: program a second key
Step 6: register CU steering lock
Step 7: put everything back together and get paid.
There is no other way to do this vehicle if all keys lost.
Only Mongoose can communicate. The J2534 from Autel IM608 kept failing when doing security functions.
This vehicle has no all keys lost procedure in Utility menu in techstream. It has immobilizer registration function and it will not approve unless you have a working key because it asks for owner confirmation when you’re adding a key and if you Don’t have a working key that’s how the procedure works.
Hope it helps.
